As far as internal protection they are waterproof, dust proof and shockproof. Every pair is also argon purged to prevent internal fogging over a wide range of temperatures. Very good optics, however...
Don't expect this binocular to be what it's not. If you, as I, are accustomed to a larger frame, larger lenses and alfa glass you may be disappointed. However, this binocular is very well suited for its intended purpose - providing a good field of view, reasonable sharpness and decent clarity. Daylight rendering is very good... as dusk settles in images become faded and washed. However, if you're looking for a solid, compact binocular with good overall performance, this little optic is quite adequate. I plan a hunting trip to Greenland in the coming months, Light, effective packing is paramount. This binocular will accompany me, I am confident of adequate performance. The Vortex guarantee fits nicely into the equation as well.
